Summerville Will Be Key In Playoff Final - May 2024

Championship Player of the Season award winner Crysencio Summerville has been the difference for Leeds on so many occasions that he's rightfully being admired by some of Europe's leading outfits. The aim for the powers that be at Elland Road is to keep the Dutchman in situ, and what happens in the playoff final could be the deciding factor on that. A playoff final Summerville will be key in.

Summerville, 22, in Leeds' last season in the Premier League, was arguably their best player, scoring four goals and providing two assists. The wide player went on a run of a goal a game across four matches, which included strikes against both Liverpool and Spurs. He's proven more integral post-relegation, with twenty-one goals and ten assists in all competitions. And now the onus will be on him to come up trumps in the playoff final, which he could well end up doing.

After Leeds' 4-0 second-leg demolition of Norwich in the playoff semi-final, a game in which Summerville once again notched, if you are betting on football online, you can expect to see Daniel Farke's team start as favourites. However, what was noticeable in the first leg of both Championship playoff semi-finals was that they were very tight games, with both ending 0-0. In these scenarios, teams can often be aware of what they have to lose and, therefore, do their best to be cautious in how they go about things. Rather than open up and risk conceding.

You'd expect, based on what's been seen so far, that this would also be the case in the playoff final. Both teams know the prize that's up for grabs and won't want to risk losing it. And this is where Summerville could be key to Leeds and their gameplan because he's capable of conjuring something up out of nothing, even against teams that are attempting to keep things tight defensively. From the wide left position, Summerville can break on the counter, utilising his pace, while also being a threat in and around the box.

Farke, who has proven himself a promotion expert from the Championship to Premier League after achieving the feat twice with former club Norwich, will undoubtedly be thinking of ways he can ensure Summerville has the chance to make the kind of devastating impact he has done countless times in the regular season. Big games require not only big game players but also players with that magic, the difference makers, and Summerville is Leeds' best.

If Leeds and Farke are successful in their hunt for promotion in the playoff final, you'd imagine Summerville, who's contracted to the club until 2026, will enjoy another top-flight campaign at Elland Road. But, if they're unsuccessful, there are already suggestions he could be on the move, as Leeds will have to balance the books financially, and he's an asset they could sell for big money, especially as he's still in his early twenties and continuing to come on leaps and bounds a player.
